I've created 4 sub-accounts under an Investment Income income account My goal was to avoid creating an account for every stock by keeping the trade information recorded in a memo. Here us a link to an example (purchase, dividend pymt, sale w/gain) of what I am planning and I welcome any critique or suggestions for improvement. I’m curious if others have come up with a solution for this and would be willing to share their method. After researching best practices online, it’s clear that QuickBooks isn’t an ideal option when accounting for/tracking stock investments. As our books are very simple, we’ve decided to use QuickBooks 2013 Mac until an upgrade is justified. Our two partner LLC set up a brokerage account to invest profits.
